International Friendships Formed with Pitampura, India’s Bal Bharati Public School
Written by Bethany

We recently wrapped up the first half of our ISSE exchange with Bal Bharati School in New Delhi, India. It was a whirlwind three weeks.

Our host families for the 5 young ladies and their 2 teacher chaperones did an incredible job of making their guests feel at home and of showing them so much of what Cincinnati has to offer in the fall.

This program is geared for 10-12 year olds. It’s actually the perfect age for these exchanges. Kids this age are curious, know how to have fun, are eager to participate in activities, and absorb so much in just a few short weeks. They try things. They aren’t afraid to stand in front of groups and talk about their culture, their homes, their lives. And, they are willing to perform in front of a crowd. This delegation from India was well prepared, polite, and adapted quickly to their new homes. These photos are just a sampling of what they did and saw while they were here. We learned so much about each other and from each other. The relationships they formed not only with their hosts but with other students at school may very well last a lifetime. We were sad to see them leave, and we will miss them!

Our delegation of 4 students and 2 chaperones will leave for the second half of the exchange the day after Thanksgiving. We can’t wait to see our friends again and to learn all we can about their country first-hand. Watch for the photos to come!
