It’s the first day of school. Some parents are crying “Boo hoo” while others are cheering “Woo hoo”! However, most all of the kindergarten and new student parents are feeling a little anxious, especially if this is the first child to go off to school. We understand what you are going through. Trust us, we’ve been through it before, not just as teachers and administrators at school, but as parents, as well.
We have experience with this separation anxiety. We’ve had parents who just couldn’t pry themselves away from campus after seeing their children go off to the classroom. We have had parents call throughout the day just to check in to be sure their children are ok. We understand. We do our best to calm your nerves and ease the fears. It is one of the reasons we developed the “Boo Hoo” Breakfast. This is a gathering for all the kindergarten parents as a way of letting you get to know us, to get to meet each other, and of showing you that you are not the only one feeling the way you do! We talk, we share feelings, and when it’s all over, most parents feel a bit calmer and ready to go about their day knowing their child is in good hands.
If you are a parent of a new kindergartner at Bethany School, please plan to join us in our Activity Center on the first full day of kindergarten. You’ll feel better, we’re sure!
