The Extended Day program is staffed by Bethany teachers who are committed to providing continuity to each student’s educational experience by supporting the daily structure and expectations of Bethany School. It is offered to students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
Teachers provide daily homework assistance, outside play time (weather permitting); quiet time; and activities suitable to each age level. Each child is provided a healthy snack and drink. Games, crafts, puzzles, movies, and more are accessible on a daily basis.
Morning Extended Day begins at 7:00 am and continues until 7:30 am. Students dropped off after 7:30 are not charged. They are supervised from 7:30 am until 7:55 am when the bell rings to begin classes.
A bill will be sent home with the youngest child of the family each month. Extended Day fees are due within ten days. Payments should be sent directly to the school office.
The Extended Day school extension is 115 and care providers may be reached on the Extended Day cell phone between 2:30 and 6:00 PM only at 617-3723.
Arrival Between 7:00 am and 7:30 am: All students arriving during this time frame must report to the dining room. They will be signed in and Extended Day fees will be charged.
Arrival between 7:30 am and 7:45 am: Gr K – 3 students report to the dining room. Gr 4-8 students report to St. Faith. Extended Day fees are not charged.
Arrival between 7:45 am and 7:55 am: Gr K – 3 students report to the dining room or the playground depending on the weather. Gr 4-8 students report to St. Faith. Extended Day fees are not charged.
Homework Time: By 3:15 any student who forgot materials necessary to complete their assignments should have made a final trip to their building to retrieve what they need. Homework time begins at 4:15. From then until students are picked up, they are to work on their assignments. They may ask the Latchkey personnel for assistance, but the staff can not solely stay with one student to reteach a lesson. Likewise, the homework that students don’t understand or are unable to complete on their own will be sent home to finish. It is not the responsibility of the adults on duty to check the assignments or to make sure that all of the homework has been completed. The students also have the option of working during the recess period. However, the faculty on duty is not available to help in any manner because they are actively supervising the other children playing during this time.
It is a requirement for all parents to sign out their children on a daily basis. This is for the safety of every student. On the sign out papers under the correct date will be the time the child was marked into the Extended Day program. Next to it parents are to note the time the student is picked up and then initial.
The sign out papers will be in the following locations depending on time:
3:00-3:45 Dining Room
3:45-4:15 Weather permitting they will be outside on the wooden picnic tables behind the
small playground. In case of inclement weather the paper work will stay in the Dining Room.
4:15-6:00 Dining Room/Fridays or the last day of the week and weather permitting.

A Healthy daily snack is provided for all students.
Students eat in the Dining Room and are not permitted to bring food or drinks to the classrooms.
If students bring snacks, they must be of the healthy variety.
Snacks include the following foods on a rotating basis: Cereal, Applesauce, Fruit Cups, Graham Crackers, Jello, Yogurt, Cheese Crackers, Peanut Butter Crackers, Veggies and Dip, Trail Mix, Popcorn, Milk, Juice, Lemonade
