Summary

Bethany School is currently seeking a Kindergarten Classroom Aide who works closely with the homeroom teacher to support student learning and foster a warm, positive, and nurturing classroom environment.

The Kindergarten Classroom Aideworks under the direction of the classroom teacher and supports the daily rhythm of the kindergarten classroom, including instruction, routines, transitions, activities, and student supervision. The Kindergarten Classroom Aide serves as a collaborative classroom partner who follows the teacher’s lead while also taking initiative to anticipate and respond to the needs of students and the classroom. Through positive engagement and consistent support, the aide helps create an environment in which young children feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.

Reporting Structure

The Kindergarten Classroom Aide reports to the Interim Assistant Head of Academic Affairs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Supports daily classroom activities, routines, transitions, and student supervision.
• Assists with small-group and individual instruction, particularly in reading and math.
• Helps prepare and facilitate hands-on learning activities, crafts, and instructional materials.
• Reinforces classroom expectations and contributes to a positive, nurturing classroom community.
• Provides positive encouragement and developmentally appropriate support to students.
• Fulfills assigned supervision duties, including morning arrival, lunch, and recess.

Education and Experience

• Holds a college degree, with some training in child development and elementary education preferred.
• Has at least one year of experience in a school setting.
